Title: Homage-to-Tretchikoff

About: The wonderful glittery gold fabric was asking to be used, we created the turban and then I realised the opposite colour to Gold on the colour wheel is Purple and I had the hand painted backdrop gifted by an Artist friend as the perfect match. It always presents a striking result when you use two opposite colours in the studio. I immediately felt it reminded me of the famous purple lady painted by the King of Kitch and was in all the middle class homes during the 60’s and 70’s. Tretchikoff !!!!

Title: Three times the sin

About: This is an Image out of a series I call “Bedlinen” and the title of this one is “three times the sin”

The whole series consists of photographs, I took in the mornings after I woke up, of crumpled up bedlinen, pillows, duvet and blankets. Some mornings I could see scenes of my dream I had the same night. This project is still ongoing.

Title: The game of Solitaire

About: The game of Solitaire is a tabletop game which one can play by oneself, usually with a deck of playing cards. A game for the lonely…

This is a self-portrait photographed in my little home studio using natural light. The pieces are then blended together, adding texture and magic in Photoshop.

Title: Metalheads of Botswana

About: Metalheads of Botswana -Botswana enjoys a growing number of heavy metal aficionados. Albeit small, the enthusiasm is no less. Actually, probably because the heavy metal community is so small across Africa, the dedication seems all the time more intense. They use heavy metal and their alter egos to remove themselves briefly from their everyday lives; forget about their problems for a while and simply start headbanging. This escapism holds an outlet for them, without any inequality or division, but that instead unites through a shared fondness for the heavy metal music, the performances and the lifestyle It is two o’clock at night on the last day of the Metal festival in Palapye, Botswana, and visitors are sleeping quietly in the corner; too drunk and exhausted to continue.

Title: Avant-Garde-Fashion-The-New-Normal

About: This image was created during the first 2 weeks of Lockdown, I made the collar from an old book and took inspiration from an old masters painting of Elizabeth Woodville Queen of England (1464) The original image was done by creating a bald cap over the models head, that is what reminded me of the queen as she had very little hair. The collar was meant to give us a feeling of the 15th century.

Title: Such a long fall, washed out to sea

About: Such a long fall, washed out to sea’ This is a fine art composite created with the photos taken of the subjects and combined with the background photos and edited to create mood and tell the story. Camera settings: Canon 5D MarkIV, Iso 50, 70 mm, F 22, 1/10 sec shutter. It is a self portrait with me lying in that position to execute the concept I had in mind, with camera on tripod and remote trigger. The other subjects were taken at another occasion, the sea and waves also with slow shutter, the boat and birds on othe occasions and combined in post processing and textures used over the photo to create mood and shape the light.

About: This was taken on a farm outside KRIEL in Mpumalanga, in the winter, with my drone to capture an aerial view on the SHEMBE meeting between 14h00 and 16h00 on a Saturday afternoon. It is a religious meeting and they use a part of the farm for that…

Title: Dreams have no boundaries

About: Sometimes things seem unthinkable – until you do it! It’s the moments where you took a risk, instead of playing it safe, that always stay with you. Like this photo: the location seemed impossible to reach, but the bride climbed it like a champion rock climber. And we got rewarded with this magical shot.
