Andile Komanisi is a photographer and fine art printer who is based in johannesburg.He was encourage to take up photography by the late Andrew Meintjes who taught few basics about photography and fine art printing and he later studied at the Market Photography Workshop.After completing his studies,he joined Meintjes at his studio as an assistant to further his photography and digital printing skills.In 2005 he joined Silvertone International where he worked with a darkroom printing legend Dennis Da Silva.He also went and joined Artlab in Cape Town as the Fine Art Specialist in their printing workshop.
Andile has exhibited in group exhibitions locally and internationally and his picture story of the King Goodwill Zwelithini was chosen by the late George Hallett’s book called Moving In Time and Jo Ractcliff invited him to exhibit his joburg street scene project and published them on a book called Johannesburg Circa Now and he also exhibited at PhotoZa on a group exhibition called Obsess.He continues to explore his photography with his latest projects he is doing.
He participated in a group exhibition called In time at Turbine Art Fair hosted by LL Editions in 2020,later that he was also a part of a group show called The end is the beginning curated by Happy Dhlame and Fulufhelo Mobadi.He participated in Miami Art Basel in 2021 and 2022.
